How to effectively persuade people/consumers in Advertising?

I think to get one's attention to notice an ad, an ad must be very persuasive. It must have facts, evidence, and statistics. It must have credibility, honesty, and reliability. In addition to these, it must appeal to emotion. I think using one of these means of persuasions or all three techniques can make an ad be powerful. However, in order for an ad to be really powerful, it has to appeal to the ordinary folk. After all, ads target the majority of people.

Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty stirred up a lot of reactions from different people across the world. The ads were designed to encourage debates regarding the definition of beauty and how women see themselves. They wanted to challenge the stereotypical views of beauty. They wanted women to feel beautiful and appreciate themselves more. As a result, the ad was very empowering. It moved women both famous and non-famous alike.

Coca Cola earned more than 58 million reactions on social media with their "Small World Machines" ad. It was an ad wherein video chat terminals were put up to allow Pakistanis and Indians to connect with each other in real time. Citizens of the rival nations were able to see each other and virtually touch hands and create visual art together. The ad invited consumers to put their differences aside and share a simple moment over a Coke. While soda may not be able to bring these two battling nations together, the campaign was one step in the right direction in building friendships and fostering some understanding between these two nations. It created a positive difference.

Thailand's telecommunications company, True, got rave reviews for its ad about a kind hearted man who unexpectedly got rewarded for doing good deeds without anything in return. The ad took the internet by storm and had everyone in tears. While it's not entirely clear how the ad relates to the mobile company (it's probably about how communication is vital) the ad drove home the message that "giving is the best communication."

All three ads used to techniques that targeted the ordinary folk. Dove appealed to the emotions of ordinary women all over the world and they were sincere in their ad. As a result, Dove got more attention and won the respect of many people and new consumers. Coca Cola decided to do something new in their ad. They used their product as a means to to get people to bond. Many people loved their idea and ended up loving the brand even more. True Corporation of Thailand were very credible and honest in their commercial. They used a very heartwarming story to remind people that communication is vital. The company was able to catch a lot attention and approval. The ads were successful in persuading their consumers.
